Swope Designs, Inc. developed this sensor interface board and it’s firmware for a leading robotics company. It interfaces with numerous sensors simultaneously and provides real-time communications and control within a larger robotics system. The board successfully replaced a full rack of equipment, streamlined the design, and saved cost and valuable space within the system. The custom, low-latency embedded firmware is designed for high-reliability and makes full use of the microcontroller’s capabilities including direct DMA peripheral operations. This enables all sensors to run concurrently without introducing lag or risk of CPU overload.
